the last weekend of what could possibly be considered the most chaotic month of Vaughn Family Chaos history

Friday evening:
"Trick-or-Treat"....I swear I was hearing that in my sleep that night :)

Trick-or-Treating being on a Friday night this year threw me into overdrive that afternoon/evening. It was a mad frenzy of picking up pizzas, getting adult beverages from the adult beverage place :), grabbing the kiddos from school, dressing in costumes, eating pizza not eating pizza to same plenty room for CANDY, taking pictures, preparing the trailer for the hayride, and actually going trick-or-treating. We took the children around the neighborhood for about an hour. Joining us on our hayride were two neighborhood families that are our dear friends and Mama Olive and her son, Little Lou. We all had a blast!! After Frank-o fell off the trailer and busted his head on the concrete and Buck-a-roo got spooked by some older children and were "stick-a-fork-in-'em done" trick-or-treatingAfter the kids had enough, we ended the evening at the neighbors' house with a bonfire!

That is the short written synopsis of our evening. Now allow me to show you the pictures.....they tell the real story.

Here's Buck-a-roo just prior to transforming into an LSU football player; he insisted all night that I not refer to him as Buck-a-roo; that I call him "LSU Football Player"

And, here's Frank-o just before becoming LSU's Mike the Tiger. Do not ask me why I found him in the bathroom sink....I have no flippin' idea why he was perched in the bathroom sink and is quickly trying to vault himself out of the sink as I approach the door

Jake & Brooke (twin cowboy and cowgirl)

Their brother, Drew (Optimus Prime Transformer)
Our neighbor, Jack (Batman)
Little Lou (another LSU's Mike the Tiger)
The "LSU Crew"

4 Hot Halloween Moms and 2 Mike the Tigers

Here's the BEST picture of the night, in my opinion
And, we ended the evening on a very sweet note (who says football players and mascots don't get along)

Saturday:
My grandparents came in town for the weekend, seeing as Daddy Buck was once again hunting and we all know how I am about staying alone ;). We had a terrific visit including a home-cooked meal by mwah and a trip to Bass Pro Shop.
My grandfather and his namesake, Buck-a-roo
My grandmother and Frank-o "flying high to the sky"

Sunday:
After the visit to Bass Pro Shop with my grandparents, Buck-a-roo had a birthday party to attend and Frank-o got to tag along. Also attending the party, was Buck-a-roo's preschool girlfriend, Bella.

If you just can't get enough of Buck-a-roo, Frank-o, and Bella then click here to view more pics...
(please excuse the un-uniform spacing in this post...I have edited, re-arranged, fooled with, and cussed at this computer for the past hour and I give up)
Geaux Tigers...WooHoo!! We beat the Tulane Green Wave. We only need prayers, miracles, grace of God, and possibly an injury or two to several key Bama players if we expect to Roll over the Tide this weekend :o)
Daddy Buck did not get the "big kill" this weekend and Papa Cody has not yet killed anything on his elk hunt in Colorado.
Let me run now so I can finish "falling back" the ump-teen clocks we have in this house!!
Good Night...Sleep Tight...zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Fall Festival

LSU Football Player and LSU's mascot, Mike the Tiger

Yesterday we went to the Fall Festival at the boys' preschool. They got to wear their costumes and play carnival games and, of course, eat candy!!!

Here's the only proof that I have that Mike the Tiger actually wore his headpiece. He's not a huge fan of it...if you can get it on him and then he forgets about it, it's alright!!
These are our dear friends, B & B, from Savage Stories. They are twins that are Buck-a-roo's age dressed as Little Red Riding Hood and The Big Bad Wolf.

26 October 2008

a lazy, restful, uneventful weekend...I THINK NOT!!

**UPDATE: The mystery pumpkin is a vampire sucking on a woman's neck. Kudos to Kristan at Cover Family Chaos for the correct guess.

Alternately titled: Let's see how many planned events we can cram into a weekend!!

Friday night, Daddy Buck and I went to a Halloween costume party hosted by our friends at Monistere Maddness. Buck-a-roo and Frank-o had a babysitter and they were thrilled about that {sniff, sniff}.

We went the homemade costume route. What can you make from these items (four brown bath towels, heavy duty aluminum foil, safety pins):

{drumroll please}

Here's the final product. Not exactly figure-flattering!!

Saturday morning, the boys had a birthday party for their close friend from across the street. The party was a pirate-themed party at the Louisiana Art & Science Museum. It was a terrific birthday party!!

Check out his birthday cake -- YUMMO!!

My MIL picked the boys up from the birthday party so I could meet my girlfriends for the LSU football game. The only good thing I can say about the game is that I was in good company. Let's not speak of how my team got stomped on by the Bulldogs from Georgia. It was a beautiful day for football in Tiger Stadium.

My friends from work and myself watching LSU try to pull it out in Death Valley.

College Football Did You Know: When the guy in the red cap is on the field during the game, the television broadcast of the game is taking a commercial break. Play resumes when the televised commercial is over and Mr. Red Cap returns to the sidelines. You learn something new everyday.

Saturday night, we went across the street to the neighbors house for grilled hamburgers, sausage, hot dogs and the annual pumpkin carving.

Buck-a-roo was really into pumpkin carving this year and immediately chose his pattern for his pumpkin for ME to carve. Not too difficult, not too simple either He fell in love with it because of the "hanging-upside-down spider". The very dangling, "hanging-upside-down" spider that Frank-o ripped off this afternoon.

After spending 1 hour carving Buck-a-roo's masterpiece, here's the less difficult, less intricate complexity super-creative masterpiece that I carved for Frank-o.

He's the only kid with a 360 degree pumpkin design!!

75 "Vaughn Family Chaos Bonus Points" for the first person to comment with the correct description of this pumpkin's carving:

Today (Sunday) we went to our neighborhood fall festival. Playground fun, games, chili-cheese nachos, and candy!!

We do not know this child...I just thought he was far too cute not to photograph.

Just before heading indoors this evening for baths and bedtime...this flew overhead.

The man flying this ultra-light airplane actually gave my kids a "Dukes of Hazard" toot of the horn as they waved to him!!

In store this week: Trick-or-Treat Trail at my hospital on Monday, Fall Festival at school on Wednesday, ENT appointment for Buck-a-roo on Friday, Trick-or-Treating on Friday night, LSU vs. Tulane on Saturday

We had another excellent, exhilarating, exhausting Fall weekend!!

G'nite zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!

October...2nd Weekend...Part II

I mentioned yesterday that we still had slated for the second half of our weekend a party for the LSU-FL football game and a birthday party for Frank-o's preschool friend. Don't be so silly as to think it all went down they way it was planned.....
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am most certain you have all heard/seen by now that LSU got mutilated by Florida last night (51-21) in their first loss of the season. Daddy Buck and I were watching the game at Daddy Buck's sister's athletic/tennis club. The club was hosting a Halloween/LSU party and unbeknowest to us...it was a costume party!! Thank goodness the costumes, band, company, and food was all terrific since the game was a drastic disappointment!! Allow me to give you a preview of some of the PG-13 rated costumes:

The Hippies

The Pirates

The "Acme" Brick & The Brick Layer

The Tennis Player "Refrigerator Magnet"
{note the black box "magnet" on her back}

John and Lorena Bobbett

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac
{click on the picture to see their necklaces that read 'In Obama We Trust'}
John McCain and Sarah Palin
{my personal favorite}
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
We spent the morning recovering from our late night out. Daddy Buck and the boys washed my car and bathed the dogs. This is a post all in itself to come later in the week!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Read my "Not Me!" Monday post to see why Frank-o did not attend the birthday party as originally planned...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I should have added this to my "Not Me!" Monday post....
My kids WERE NOT incredibly, horrifically, tremendously fussy, irritable, whiny, temper-tanrum throwing children for the entire day today!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have heartburn for, I swear, the first time since being pregnant over 2 years ago. Don't get any ideas....that would be defying all medical odds!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
We had a great weekend. The evenings are getting noticably shorter which means more indoor play for us. That is not so swell in a family of four that loves the outdoors!! I am opting for earlier bedtimes :) zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!
