sick and tired

Sick….?

Well, that’d be Buck-a-roo. Since returning from the beach, he’s been battling a vicious ear infection.

We’ve been home for three days now…. playing games, choking down antibiotics, watching movies, putting drops and cotton balls in the ear, watching shows and playing games on Mom’s iPhone, whining, fussing, and enjoying being home ALONE without little brother.

Tired…..?

That’d be me! Tired…..of what?

Tired of keeping my house pristinely immaculately perfectly put together and squeaky clean for a realtor to show at a moment’s notice.

We are a clean, neat, organized family that, even still, has difficulty just living and being us while having our home on the real estate market {for 3 months now}. PLEASE, just get a bite, a “for real” bite real soon!!

"Draw ONLY on paper"!!

Cody had to go to the pediatrician today because, as I suspected, he has an ear infection. He is now on antibiotics and will return to the ENT in about 3 weeks to evaluate his existing tubes in his ears and decide whether a "new" set will be necessary for the upcoming winter season. My guess would be, YES!!!

In the meantime, he doesn't ACT ill in the least bit and wanted to draw with his markers (his new favorite thing to do). I instructed him, as I always do, "Cody, draw ONLY on the paper on your hands, face, the table, toys, and floor." As you can see below, he follows instructions to a T!!

Good News for Cody!!

I had a colleague pull Cody's labwork from the computer yesterday and spoke to the pediatrician this morning and it seems as though Cody's previously abnormal blood levels are resolving and returning to normal values. This is great news, seeing as we have been dealing with these abnormalities for almost six weeks secondary to two severe viral infections. He is officially well, FOR NOW!! Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

Cody is on the road to recovery

As some of you may or may not be aware, Cody has been sick for the past six weeks with the Epstein-Barr virus and the Cytemegalovirus...aka Mononucleosis. He ran fever off and on for 3-4 weeks, had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic, had a swollen spleen and liver, and has had blood drawn 4 times in as many weeks. This Friday, July 18, he returns to the hospital for what I hope is his last blood draw for several weeks. He is very versed in what happens when we visit the lab and it is miserable to hold him down to be stuck, even when you are a PEDIATRIC RN :( I will post the results next week when we receive them, hopefully much improved!!! Please keep Cody in your prayers--he has been so tough the past few weeks!!
