1 follow-up visit to ENT turns into extensive sick visits for 2 boys

Buck-a-roo was to have a follow-up visit at the ENT for his ears yesterday. Seeing as both boys have had horrible coughs for over 2 weeks and the daycare called me saying that Frank-o was running a fever....I took both boys to the ENT for sick visits.

After seeing the doctor and discovering that both boys had upper respiratory infections and Frank-o had tonsilitis, the visit to the ENT was about to take a turn....towards the OR that is!!

Buck-a-roo and Frank-o will both be having surgery on December 11. Buck-a-roo will have bilateral wax impaction removals (is that why I always think he is ignoring me??), new PE tubes placed in his eardrums, and an adenoidectomy. Frank-o will have new PE tubes placed in his eardrums also, as well as, tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy.

This will undoubtedly be a tough day and a long weekend that, in the end, should produce excellent results in my kiddos. I'm hoping for less runny noses, no coughs, children that can breathe with their mouths closed, and better sleeping at night!! Hope I don't have my post-operative goals set too high!!

Please keep us all in your prayers that our antibiotics will clear their current infections and the surgeries will be smooth and successful!!

this go-round seems much different than four years ago

...is it because this country will make history tomorrow, either by electing our first-ever female vice president or our first-ever African-American president?

....is it because our economy has fallen on hard times and could certainly use an economic catapult during these next four years??

....is it because I have children this time around and that makes the stakes seem so much higher (i think, probably so)???

...is it because I continue to be told my friends, acquaintances, and strangers alike that I look like Sarah Palin (this can't be it)????

Daddy Buck and I are both creatures of habit, so this whole idea of "CHANGE" really doesn't sit so well with us (if you know what I mean)!!

Polls open at 6:00am--Vote, Vote, Vote doggonnit!!

"Not Me!" Monday

I so DID NOT completely stalk MCKMama's blog or frequently check my dashboard this week hoping to see updates on MCKMuffin's birth.

I am not such a wimp about staying home alone that I DID NOT call and persuade my 75+ year old grandparents to come stay the weekend with me while Daddy Buck was once again gone hunting. They most certainly agreed...I think more to see Buck-a-roo and Frank-o than to keep me company.

I DID NOT just feed Buck-a-roo some yogurt that expired on Oct. 31. For heaven's sakes, it's yogurt. It says on the label "contains live cultures"...how expired can it possibly get??

I DID NOT convince myself all day today, that fruit salad covered in amaretto cream cheese dip is healthy!! Just because it contains a dozen satsuma wedges and a handful of grapes, doesn't mean I didn't consume a ridiculous amount of calories. I am just hoping it was better than the alternative....a massive handful of Halloween candy!!

I DID NOT completely take advantage of the time change this evening by having my boys indoors and bathed for 6:00pm and will have them in bed for 7:00pm. This is at least 1 1/2 hour earlier than it has been for the past six months and I am about to bask in the silence of the evening (remember Daddy Buck is still gone hunting).

I AM NOT seriously dwelling on the idea that Buck-a-roo is 3 1/2 years old and really has developed an interest in the computer lately and I DO NOT enjoy sharing my computer with him because I AM NOT completely obsessed with the computer, blogging, emailing, photo editing......

the last weekend of what could possibly be considered the most chaotic month of Vaughn Family Chaos history

Friday evening:
"Trick-or-Treat"....I swear I was hearing that in my sleep that night :)

Trick-or-Treating being on a Friday night this year threw me into overdrive that afternoon/evening. It was a mad frenzy of picking up pizzas, getting adult beverages from the adult beverage place :), grabbing the kiddos from school, dressing in costumes, eating pizza not eating pizza to same plenty room for CANDY, taking pictures, preparing the trailer for the hayride, and actually going trick-or-treating. We took the children around the neighborhood for about an hour. Joining us on our hayride were two neighborhood families that are our dear friends and Mama Olive and her son, Little Lou. We all had a blast!! After Frank-o fell off the trailer and busted his head on the concrete and Buck-a-roo got spooked by some older children and were "stick-a-fork-in-'em done" trick-or-treatingAfter the kids had enough, we ended the evening at the neighbors' house with a bonfire!

That is the short written synopsis of our evening. Now allow me to show you the pictures.....they tell the real story.

Here's Buck-a-roo just prior to transforming into an LSU football player; he insisted all night that I not refer to him as Buck-a-roo; that I call him "LSU Football Player"

And, here's Frank-o just before becoming LSU's Mike the Tiger. Do not ask me why I found him in the bathroom sink....I have no flippin' idea why he was perched in the bathroom sink and is quickly trying to vault himself out of the sink as I approach the door

Jake & Brooke (twin cowboy and cowgirl)

Their brother, Drew (Optimus Prime Transformer)
Our neighbor, Jack (Batman)
Little Lou (another LSU's Mike the Tiger)
The "LSU Crew"

4 Hot Halloween Moms and 2 Mike the Tigers

Here's the BEST picture of the night, in my opinion
And, we ended the evening on a very sweet note (who says football players and mascots don't get along)

Saturday:
My grandparents came in town for the weekend, seeing as Daddy Buck was once again hunting and we all know how I am about staying alone ;). We had a terrific visit including a home-cooked meal by mwah and a trip to Bass Pro Shop.
My grandfather and his namesake, Buck-a-roo
My grandmother and Frank-o "flying high to the sky"

Sunday:
After the visit to Bass Pro Shop with my grandparents, Buck-a-roo had a birthday party to attend and Frank-o got to tag along. Also attending the party, was Buck-a-roo's preschool girlfriend, Bella.

If you just can't get enough of Buck-a-roo, Frank-o, and Bella then click here to view more pics...
(please excuse the un-uniform spacing in this post...I have edited, re-arranged, fooled with, and cussed at this computer for the past hour and I give up)
Geaux Tigers...WooHoo!! We beat the Tulane Green Wave. We only need prayers, miracles, grace of God, and possibly an injury or two to several key Bama players if we expect to Roll over the Tide this weekend :o)
Daddy Buck did not get the "big kill" this weekend and Papa Cody has not yet killed anything on his elk hunt in Colorado.
Let me run now so I can finish "falling back" the ump-teen clocks we have in this house!!
Good Night...Sleep Tight...zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

God's Work on Earth

You may remember several months ago when I posted this button to my sidebar requesting prayers for MCKMama and her unborn baby, MCKMuffin. This is a blog that I read daily.
