6 years and counting

Please do excuse the Duggar pun as we are a good 13 years shy of even breaking their total number of offspring!

We did, however, kick off the weekend with our anniversary dinner on Friday night as our actual anniversary was, and always seems to be, smack in the middle of opening weekend of dove season.

And just because Daddy Buck so enjoys posing for pictures, here you have the……

”I can’t believe she’s making me pose for these silly pictures to document our 6th anniversary as all the neighbors are outside hooting and hollering at us….so I’m gonna make her feel incredibly uncomfortable while our neighbor photographs us by acting all seductive, eyes closed, breathing down her neck”!!

Thanks Kimber for taking our pictures.....check out her blog here!

While Daddy Buck was hunting for the holiday weekend, the boys and I headed to Alexandria for an extended stay with my parents. It was three days of enjoying grandparents and greatgrandparents, playing Dominoes and Spades, watching football, hitting golf balls, homemade milkshakes,

playing at the park, lots of wrestling, tee-teeing in pants, quarreling brothers, hours of bickering in the car…..(oh wait seems that I’ve gotten off track here)!!

and a stop at the local Dairy Queen that went a bit like this….

Welcome to Dairy Queen, may I take your order please:

“I’ll have a kiddie size chocolate dipped ice cream cone; hold the chocolate, can the cone, with a spoon on the side please”

IMG_3415

“And, I’ll have a kiddie size red slush, cuz I don’t like ice cream puhlease”

Memorial Day thanks....

Check out my blogging friend, Tiffany, at her blog to pay your respects to her husband that left THIS morning for just another day at work and another deployment to Iraq.

Thanks Daddy Buck

Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday that commeorates the men and women who have lost their lives serving for our country in the military.

“The bravest are surely those who have the clearest vision of what is before them, glory and danger alike, and yet notwithstanding, go out to meet it.” ~Thucydides

In our home, we like to not only remember those who have served and lost their lives; but, on days like Memorial Day, July 4th, and Veterans' Day, we also like to recognize those who have lost their lives, those who have served in the past, and those who continue to serve to afford us the freedoms that we enjoy daily.

"And each man stands with his face in the light of his own drawn sword. Ready to do what a hero can.” ~Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Because, without brave men and women like our Daddy Buck, we would not be able to freely enjoy our barbeque cookouts with friends and family, swimming pools full our laughter from kids, and all around good times had by all today and everyday!

He typically does not like this much acknowledgement, so I might get in trouble; but, it's worth it to give Daddy Buck a great, big, blog Thank You for his service to our country.

“True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost.” ~ Authur Ashe

Happy Mother's Day

This Mother's Day weekend, I had the pleasure of spending valuable time with my mom and my Meme. It was three generations enjoying each other's presence and doling out plenty of mothering along the way.
"A mother's love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity, it dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path."-- Agatha Christie
May this Mother's Day be joyful, fulfilling, and blessed for you and yours...

Happy Easter

as promised...

Here come a few of the many pictures that I took from our busy weekend past....as promised.

On Saturday (Daddy Buck's Saturday off for April), our day was spent at the annual Louisiana Strawberry Festival in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.

It was a terrific spring Saturday full of bright sunshine, a mid-morning parade, carnival rides, food, drink, and music shared with our dear friends from Mississippi that made the trip to share in the fun with us.

On Sunday, as I ailed from my self-inflicted sunburn, we went to our annual neighborhood Easter egg hunt.

The children were divided into two age groups....4 and under & 4 and over. Buck-a-roo captured the prize in the 4 and under category for racing past the toddling toddlers and snatching up 39 eggs and proudly chanting "I won...I won" as his basket overflowed finding the most Easter eggs strowed across the lawn of our neighborhood park. Frank-o also nabbed a prize egg....so all was good in the Vaughn house of egg-hunters!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Last Saturday we attended our city's St. Patrick's Day parade. We took our nieces (I thought I would share a few pictures of them too and hopefully they will be online and see themselves) with us so they could see their parents riding in the parade. Aside from the off and on rain for the entire 3 hours of the parade, we had a fantastic time!
