Since moving in with my Mother-in-law, over 3 months ago, it seems that the boys are watching more television that ever before. Particularly…..movies.
Due in part, I believe, to……the extremely hot temperatures that we’ve been experiencing, the limits of outdoor play due to the 12 dogs that are also residing here, the presence of TVs with DVDs/VCRs in every room, the lack of their toys and space, or most likely a combination of all of the above!!
Don’t read me wrong here, I am most grateful of the availability for us to be here now and, for now, it’s just a fact of life. You’ll never hear me complain. It’s temporary.
It’s just that I have had to become a bit more ‘lax on my usual ‘get outside and play/go in your room and find something to do/let’s play a game together’ attitude that I hope I will not live to later regret.
:: these are two frequently requested, often replayed, memorized, and imitated favorites::
One of the above….. I truly adore and will actually pull up a chair or get horizontal and watch with them.
The other……let’s just say, I’m not a fan!
We’ll just leave it at that!
Also ever-so-popular are the {new to us} classics, Rikki Tikki Tavi and Adventures of Scamper the Penguin.

I don't like the boys watching a lot of t.v. either, but due to sickness for a few months, they have watched more than I would like.
I have memorized Nemo, we have watched it so much.
We also checked out The Rescuers from the library last week. And even though it came out when I was young, I have never seen it and the boys LOVED it!
I bet you like 2 better than 1? P loves his movies, but not big on shows...so he knows that if he is in trouble that is the first thing to go. I really hate he has watched as much as he has but between the hot temps, huge mosquitoes, and lack of naps at school evening play has been put on a hold for a lil while...
My girls have been watching a lot more tv too. I think it's because of the heat. If I just mention going outside they both say, "but it's sooo hot!" I can't really blame them though.
