"Not Me!" Monday (on Sunday night)

I DID NOT buy a box of Batman fruit roll-ups for my boys earlier in the week and then proceeded to eat the entire box myself! Yumm-o!!

I DID NOT let my boys wear their new LSU jerseys for 48+ straight hours without washing them, because they are absolutely in LOVE with them!!

I DID NOT wear my cute purple & gold fleur-de-lis flip-flops to Tiger Stadium tailgating from 2:00pm, through the game that started at 6:30pm, and partying after the game until I arrived home around 12:30 only to find a blister on my left foot 1/2 the size of the state of Texas. Nope...didn't happen....all in the name of vanity!!

I DID NOT put lots of extra meat on the grill this evening so that I would have at least two meals for the week over 1/2 of the way prepared. Extra grilled chicken will {voila!!} become chicken/cheese enchiladas and extra sausage will be used for sausage sandwiches with the leftover baked beans!! Way to go, ME!!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Before dropping my boys off at my mother-in-law's house and heading to Tiger Stadium for a little tailgating fun, I took Buck-a-roo and Frank-o to breakfast at "Hot-Donald's" (Frank-o has finally learned how to navigate his way back DOWN the nasty, disgusting, rotten-ketchup-smelling jungle gym thing so that I don't have to make my way up there to fetch him out) and then we met our friends at the city park. It was out first trip there and and it was great fun!!

Then, it was off to Tiger Stadium for some tailgating.....food, friends, fun!!
I, first, met up with the two nurse practitioners, Anne and Lisa, that I worked for when I lived in Jackson, MS. They were in town because it was the LSU-MS State game.

Then, I met up with some of my friends (Jacob & Mandi and Lindsey) from work at OLOL.

Then, Daddy Buck met me at the game where we watched the Tigers beat the Bulldogs, 34-24!! So sad...Missy, Richard, Lisa :(

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Vaughn family is loving us some FALL weather. I saw where our highs for Wednesday and Thursday of this week are in the upper 70s to 80 degrees. Almost time to break out the long-sleeve t-shirts, our favorites!! My neighbors are putting purple and gold mums in the ground as I type....I am super jealous that they beat me to the punch.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's back to work for me tomorrow, finally, after missing an entire week. After getting new antibiotic eye drops on Friday, I think my eye infection is finally clearing up.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Who dat beat up on the San Francisco 49ers today?? The New Orleans Saints!! WooHoo!! 31-17!! Go Saints!!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Have a great week!! Going to ponder "Not Me" Monday for tomorrow.....

Out of the mouths...(caution, this language could become offensive to some)

On the way home from picking the boys up from school, Buck-a-roo became perturbed at me (what else is new?) for whatever reason and here's the conversation that was exchanged between the two of us:

Buck-a-roo: "Mommy, if you don't be nice to me....I'm gonna call you hamsome like a BOY!" {Whoa! Low blow son}

Me: {Crazy me, I decided to play along for a minute} "Well, if aren't nice to me....I'm gonna call you pretty like a GIRL!" {Whoa! Low blow mom}

**Buck-a-roo always has to have the last word; not sure where he gets that from**

Buck-a-roo: "Well them, I'm gonna call you a WITCH!"

Me: {WHAT?? OK, he must have Halloween on the mind, right? I'll go along with that...} "Well, then you look like a GHOST!"

Just in case you're keeping score, I think it is:
Buck-a-roo ~ 2
Mommy ~ 2
But, no, we're not done yet!!!

Buck-a-roo: "Mom, you look like a dirty horse (rhymes with 'floor')"

Me: {eh, um} "So, Buck-a-roo, what did you have for lunch at school today?"

Just in case you're STILL keeping score:
Buck-a-roo ~ TKO

Flashback Friday (Football Style)

I realize it is Flashback Friday, but I can't help but show you how they looked this morning as they were leaving for school...

GEAUX Tigers tomorrow evening!!

Look!! They CAN get along and play together like brothers should.....

for a brief moment that is!!

The question is: How many two/four wheeled toddler toys can one toddler "hook" together to make a "super-duper, even cooler toddler machine".

Today, Buck-a-roo, the preschool engineer, succeeded at three (the scooter, the ride-on motorcycle, and the wagon). Look closely at the grainy, cell phone pic below and see that (without any assistance) he has the arm of the scooter through the handle of the wagon and he is sitting on the handle of the wagon to attach it to the motorcycle that he rides on. Whoa!! Then, he proceeded to coax his little brother to naively hop in and take a ride in his "machine". Crazy kid!! All the while I was taking pictures unbeknownst to them with my cell phone, once again; it's all I had handy.

The joyful bliss of two loving brothers playing amongst themselves came and went in the time it took me to snap these five pictures. I promptly had to drop the phone, computer, and my bottle of water to go break up a toddler fist fight!!

Toddler speak

***First, pause the music player at the bottom of the screen***

Put your best listening ears on.....

And, one more time.....

(note the hand gesture for extra help)

And, the survey says.....

"Peace, I love you Baby!"

22 September 2008

(As coined by Daddy Buck) And the survey says.....

{ugh! this is a mouthful and earful}
.....Penicillin-resistant exudative pharyngitis (a.k.a. a whole h*** of a lot of inflammation and puss on my tonsils), conjunctivitis (pink eye), two ear infections and multiple infected lymph nodes. {whew!}

He changed my antibiotic, so hopefully I will be on a swift road to recovery.

After stopping by the dreaded pharmacy, I went to get the boys. When I get Buck-a-roo he comes to me slowly with a flushed face and head hung low....{wondering what is wrong} he says, "I was taking my nap and they woke me up and I want to nap more" and "my mouth hurts" and "I think I'm sick". He seemed to be better once we got home, but I gave him Motrin and Benadryl just for good measure :) The jury's still out on what's up with him?????

Going to rest take my new meds and perch myself on the couch....

Not Me Monday

My favorite blog that I follow daily, sometimes more, is My Charming Kids. MCKMama is a captivating author, dedicated mother of 3, soon-to-be 4, small children, and an avid, humorous blogger. She is hosting a new weekly blog carnival that I have decided to participate in. I gave you all a sneek peek without explanation last week.

Not Me Monday....is an avenue to "fess up" on weekly instances/happenings/occurrences that happened, either intentionally or not, that could possibly have unfolded in a better way (or maybe not). It is fun, uplifting, un-guilting, and down-right freeing to be, as MCKMama puts it, brutally honest with yourself and living to tell others about it.
This past weekend....
I DID NOT intentionally pack my camera (unintentionally MINUS a memory card) for our weekend visit to Alexandria because I was on the brink of becoming sick and wasn't at the top of my game while I was packing. It is hard to take pictures with a digital camera WITHOUT a memory card in it:) Nope, not me!!
I DID NOT, then, have to take all the pictures from our terrific weekend with my cell phone....42 in all!!
I DID NOT grant my adorable, irresistable Frank-o a tee-nitzy kiss on the lips last night because he was begging (and a kiss on the cheek wouldn't suffice) even though I have been REALLY sick all weekend with strep throat and fever. Never happened!!
Finally, I DID NOT tell my 3 y/o Buck-a-roo that you had to be at LEAST 8 years old to enter Tiger Stadium (LSU football game) in an effort to get him off my back every Saturday.

Our last weekend of summer

Daddy Buck had to work on Saturday and had to de-hurricane (if you have been through it this month, you will understand what I mean) at our house and his mother's house on Sunday, so the boys and I decided to visit my parents for the weekend. The boys had a terrific time; I enjoyed being with my family, though I was sick as a dog the entire weekend (more on that later).

We were able to visit with my parents, all of my grandparents, survey storm damage, and take in the fun of two local parks, though the mosquitos there are life-size and abundant and make it somewhat difficult and risky to stay outside for too long. Never leave home without mosquito repellant on!!

Before we start viewing pictures, let me disclose that all of these pictures were taken from my cell phone because, YES, I brought a camera with me with NO memory card in it!! Good job me!! In my defense I was beginning to feel sick on Friday when I was packing.

The first park we (Maw-Maw Margie, Maw-Maw, Buck-a-roo, Frank-o, and myself) went to was a park in Pineville near my grandparents' house that I played at many, many, many times when I was a little girl. It was a very neat opportunity to have Buck-a-roo and Frank-o there playing now!!

Most of our time spent indoors avoiding mosquitos, was spent with the boys (all 3 of them) hitting, biting, scratching, pinching, tickling wrestling. This is their new favorite pasttime; that, this weekend, most often resulted in a Papa Cody "sandwich". Most of my time is spent saying hollering "STOP, STOP, someone's gonna get hurt!"
Hey Dad, after seeing the picture of you and Buck-a-roo "chilling out", I take back the ....playing favorites.... comment!!

Our final play venture was an effort to tire them out before we got in the car to drive home. By this time I am feeling really BAD and want them to sleep the entire drive. My mom and I took them to a playground at an elementary school a block from my parents' house. Take note that the "zip line" is their favorite playground attraction as noted by pictures from both places!!

Mission accomplished....they were worn-out, sleeping angels for the drive home. When we got home, after watching the portable DVD player on the road, it's all they wanted!! It's like their own, personal, toddler-sized TV.
As for me, though I did begin taking antibiotics on Saturday....I am NOT getting better. I am going to the doctor this afternoon at 3:45; now, I believe, I am battling strep throat, pink eye, fever, ear infections, infected lymph nodes..... I will be begging for SHOTS to boost this process into overdrive!!
Thanks for the great weekend Dad and Mom. I hope we weren't more trouble than we're worth!!

Happy Birthday Uncle Jase

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Uncle Jason, Happy Birthday to you!!!!

Happy Birthday to my little brother who turns 28 today!!
