a Sunday picnic

This past Sunday was Daddy Buck’s company’s family picnic…….

The weather was spectacular

outdoors….picturesque setting…..spectacular weather…..

and cooperative children posing for pictures…..

who could ask for more?!

The commercial grade, been around for 50+ years playground equipment was an immediate hit!

As was the Koi pond, where Frank-o fed the fish…. his popcorn.

An even bigger hit were the paddle boats on the lake!

(which look so relaxing and enjoyable from the dock and are not quite so enjoyable or relaxing half-way across the lake)

We cheered Daddy Buck on as he played volleyball

He’s only kidding around here……  he’s not really a hyperventilating, jello-legged, gonna be sore tomorrow, 30+ year old, exhausted, borderline resuscitation-necessitating being!

Please do not ask me why Frank-o’s chosen facepaint placement is dead center of his forehead.  This I. Do. Not. Know.  What I do know is….. it’s SO him!  As is the look on his face in this picture.

Love these guys!!

21 April 2010

our afternoon at the park

Amidst my mother-in-law’s neighborhood is a city-owned public park that is within walking/bicycling distance from her house.

Needless to say, we’ve been several times since moving in a little over two weeks ago now.  And, if I was a bettin’ woman, I’d bet there were several more park visits to be had during our 4+ month stint here.

A {sunny} afternoon at the park allows for excellent photo opportunities.  I did put my camera down long enough to push my boys on the swings.

But only long enough to get them up, up, up in the air while I ran underneath and around to snap another picture because I’m good like that!

Before we go any further, I know what you’re thinking…….

Why did VaughnMom take her boys to the park wearing solid white collared shirts?

I’ll be happy to answer that for you:

a.) because that’s what they wore to school and I don’t allow clothes changes post-school otherwise my children would change clothes 14 times from 4-7pm (I might shoulda fudged the rule today, but oh well)

b.) white shirts turned completely gray with splotches of black and brown don’t scare us…….we’ve got Clorox, OxyClean, and Dawn by the cases

c.) it shows our FUN better…..you see we judge our days/outings/adventures and how fun/exciting/enjoyable they were by how filthy/dirty/grimy we can get and today’s white shirts just show it off sooooo much more.  Today looks to have been a 10+!!

“Se, Buck-a-roo, are you having a great time this afternoon at the park?”

In closing, today as I nursed my ‘raw from being blown’ nose, ‘nonstop hacking’ cough, and my ‘sore from a Cortisone shot’ bum……I downloaded some new Lightroom presets.

The likes of which, this gal and this one have been waiting patiently all evening to preview!!

And this concludes our afternoon at the park!!

Wordless Wednesday

16 April 2010

take me out to the ball game

Take me out to the ball game,

take me out with the crowd.

Buy me some peanuts and

and Cracker Jacks cotton candy,

I don’t care if I never get back.

Let me root, root, root for the home team,

if they don’t win (but they did!) it’s a shame.

For it’s one, two,

three strikes, you’re out,

at the old ball game!

Wordless Wednesday

Actually, it’s not so {Wordless} Wednesday.

Tomorrow is Buck-a-roo’s surgery.  He will have new, upgraded, Titanium tubes placed in ears following an extensive clean-out.  This will be his third and hopefully last set!!

All prayers and well wishes are welcomed and appreciated!

Ok….that’s all.

11 April 2010

Since taking up temporary residence here at my mother-in-law’s, we are now geographically much closer to Daddy Buck’s sister and her family as they live about a crow’s path 4minutes away from where we are.

I believe these little guys are going to enjoy their summer together….

10 April 2010

going, going, gone!!

But not before Frank-o declared that the nice, kind, considerate, friendly moving truck driver was a “THIEF”.  And further re-iterated that he was a “bad man” and was “stealing all our stuff”.

Over the past week we have:

moved in with my mother-in-law

greatly downsized our daily essentials for living

organized our things to occupy two bedrooms and a bathroom

closed on our old house

contracted with the builder to build our new home

started tball season for Buck-a-roo and Frank-o

took Spring school pictures

closed on our lot loan and construction loan

And, after a week without my computer, attempting to setup a wireless connection to no avail, purchasing a new router from WalMart over the course of several visits, and finally successfully establishing a wireless network……my internet connection has been re-established!  WooHoo!!!

This coming week we will:

mark off Week #1 from the 16-week projected stay here with my ever-so-generous mother-in-law

send the plans for our new home to the “City” for final approval

continue tball practice in preparation for the first game at the end of the month

{Buck-a-roo and Frank-o} visit the dentist for teeth cleanings

{Buck-a-roo} undergo ear surgery

Enjoy your Sunday……
