The Power of Prayer

You might remember in the past that I have participated in the i Y faces weekly photo contest. Each week they sponsor a different theme and ask for photo entries, primarily face shots, that exemplify the week's theme. This week's theme is special and involves a contest to be featured in the i Y faces publication. Their request: the best "face" photo of your choice....

Though I had the option of delving deep into my multitudes of photographs of my children, I have chosen a picture of Frank-o that I just took last week.

For me, Frank-o's tightly closed eyes, clinched fists, and evident veins in his forehead are fabulous in this snapshot that I took last week during the opening prayer before Buck-a-roo's End of the Year program at preschool. Lord only knows just what it was that he was so fiercely praying about. We'll just keep that between he and the Big Guy upstairs!

i heart faces ~ week 14

I have returned from a three week hiatus from the weekly i Y faces carnival.

This week's theme.....Spring/Easter

This theme was easy because I have snapped over 150 pictures in the past week, but difficult because it was tough to pick just one.

i heart faces ~ week 11

After a busy weekend of visiting family for the boys and I, we are home. It is Monday morning 0500 and I am editing my i Y faces post. Typically I have my i Y faces posts complete way in advance and schedule them to post early Monday morning. Not the case this week and that is because I was stumped for a picture for this week's theme!

This week's theme....no flash.

Thank goodness the weekend's activities were all outdoors with bright sunny skies and not a cloud in sight.

Frank-o found this large sombrero in his great-grandfather's work shed. My grandfather uses it to shield his face from the sun when he works in the yard. It shielded Frank-o's entire upper body. {grin!} Hopefully tonight, I will post more pictures from our fun-filled weekend.

i heart faces ~ week 10

The weekly Monday i Y faces post/contest has become quite an addiction for me. It is has become an outlet for showing off, what I believe to be, good pictures of my boys, practicing what amateur photography skills that I might possess, tweeking post production in my photographs, and viewing excellent close-up photography.

This week's theme.... GREEN!!

This was a difficult selection for me, seeing as we attended our city's large St. Patrick's Day parade on Saturday and you can bet your bottom {green} dollar that I took many pictures! However, in the running count of i Y faces entries, it is definitely Buck-a-roo's turn to shine and I believe this picture does that without a doubt.

I am green with envy for those big gray-blue eyes and that tan bridge of the nose (oh, and the green Budweiser cap that was his favorite "catch" of the day at the parade)...

Monday morning is here following a busy weekend of house guests, birthday festivities and a time change. Whew!! Have I got some pickin up to do around this house?!? I couldn't miss my weekly participation in the i Y faces contest...

This week's theme..... Messy

This picture is several months old; but seeing as it was taken after Buck-a-roo had played for hours in the large mound of sand that was in our front yard at the time, I definitely felt it qualified for the theme of messy. His clothes and my bathtub were laden with sand for days!

Fix-It Friday (#4)

I participated in Fix-It Friday #1, sponsored by i Y faces. Due to my boys' surgeries and recoveries, I missed Fix-It Friday #2 and #3, so here I am back for Fix-It Friday #4.

I enjoy the concept of Fix-It Friday. It is an opportunity to take a photograph, usually professionally taken, show off one's post production skills, and receive feedback and positive ciritcism in an effort to hone one's post production skills even further.

The original (SOOC) is the color photo in the bottom left hand corner of the collage and my version, post-production, is the black&white.

Fix-It Friday (#1)

The ladies at i Y faces, have decided to host a weekly posting, Fix-It Friday, where they post a picture that demonstrates errors in photography that could be improved using post produciton techniques. They, then, ask their readers to use their own personal techniques to improve the picture.

Below, you will see this week's picture, redhead beauty. Their 'before' picture is on the left and my 'after' (post production) picture is on the right. Post production (tweaking of imperfect pictures) is one of my favorite, newly-learned aspects of photography.

No, I do not know her and what a brave soul she is to now be plastered all over the blogging world. Besides having a terrific subject (isn't she gorgeous), tell me how I did...

This week's theme is....The Eyes Have It!
Here's my entry for this week...

This picture was taken during the late summer when he was sporting a nice tan as well as large, aquamarine eyes.

Once again, it happens to be another picture of Frank-o. His eyes are a much brighter shade of blue than Buck-a-roo's and he tends to hold them wide open in pictures, whereas Buck-a-roo tends to squint more. Okay, so I am defending the fact that I have entered a picture of Frank-o for the past two weeks straight, not necessary!
